About Terravita Desert Contemporary Remodel

Tucked away in the North Scottsdale community of Terravita, this complete home transformation is a testament to what happens when you hire the right team for the job. An earlier renovation left the homeowners disappointed, and with a home that didn’t match their original vision. Our team worked closely with the owners to ensure that each and every space matched their current needs and refined style. Each space inside the home was transformed with careful intention, with areas like the laundry room relocated entirely, to accommodate the homeowner’s vision. Custom details, natural materials, and handcrafted elements provide a cohesive design throughout the entire home. The same design language can be found in the casita, resulting in a home that feels curated, timeless, and unlike any other.

Primary Bath

Terravita Desert Contemporary Master Bathroom

Our design team worked closely with the homeowners to preserve specific elements of the primary bathroom that they loved, while improving the overall functionality through a cohesive mix of modern functionality and refined elegance. The original shower was updated and integrated into the new design language, while the soaking tub was removed entirely. This allowed us to bring in custom Wood-Mode cabinetry to create a spacious closet tailored to the homeowners' specific needs, turning a previously unused space into functional storage, while natural quartz countertops from Cambria add a touch of modern elegance. The Mohawk flooring installed throughout the home adds a sense of warmth to this master bathroom, with subtle illumination from Visual Comfort providing a soft glow and vibrace to the spa-like retreat.

Powder Room

Terravita Desert Contemporary Powder Room

Because the Powder Room will be used most often by guests, the homeowners wanted to create a space that was truly unique and unforgettable. The original entrance was moved from the living room to the connected hallway to create a more intimate atmosphere for the room itself. In a departure from the brighter colors found throughout the rest of the home, we followed the owners’ vision to create a dark, dramatic space for their guests. Wainscoting porcelain slabs and natural stone create dramatic movement, while dark, textured walls create a striking contrast. A sophisticated vanity with metallic accents from Visual Comfort and a geometric mirror are framed with soft, layered lighting, giving this unforgettable powder room a gallery-like finish.

Guest Bath

The homeowners wanted a fresh start on the guest bathroom, creating an entirely new private en-suite retreat for visiting friends and family. The original bathroom was relocated and repositioned, with a door leading directly from the guest bedroom. This new bathroom features all of the comforts of home for visitors, with an elegant stone tile shower, quartzite countertops and a small closet with enough room for a small suitcase and hanging clothes.

Living Room

Terravita Desert Contemporary Living Room

This living and dining room remodel was designed to celebrate both the homeowner’s creativity and the home’s connection to the surrounding desert landscape. The transformation centered on creating bright, open gathering spaces that feel equally suited for entertaining, displaying artwork, and enjoying everyday life. Custom lighting played a key role in the design, with Alloy LED architectural lighting used to enhance the home’s clean lines and highlight artwork throughout the space. Decorative fixtures from Visual Comfort add warmth, scale, and visual interest, complementing the soaring ceilings and expansive walls. A reimagined fireplace wall featuring a dramatic wood slat accent made by our in-house craftsmen and a stone surround serves as a striking focal point, while sprawling windows maximize natural light and strengthen the connection between the indoor and outdoor living areas.

Kitchen

Terravita Desert Contemporary Kitchen

This Desert Contemporary kitchen is a study in refined openness and intentional design. The former laundry space has been transformed into a light-filled culinary hub, where a generous window above the sink frames serene courtyard views and modern conveniences are at your fingertips. Tailored Wood-Mode cabinetry features integrated appliance garages with lift-up cabinets for convenient storage, while a custom pull-out bar made of rich walnut conceals spirits and glassware, always ready for entertaining. The reoriented island faces outward for convenient seating, while a prep sink, wine cooler, and semi-flush lighting from Visual Comfort and Alloy LED preserve the uninterrupted Phoenix views. Appliances by Sub-Zero Wolf, and Samsung complete this sophisticated desert retreat.

Other

Terravita Desert Contemporary Casita

This home’s existing casita featured a dated design, with a layout that left much to be desired. The homeowners wanted a simplified floor plan with a Mexican-inspired feel, while still maintaining cohesion with the main house. To meet the owners’ needs, we eliminated the existing kitchenette, allowing for a more spacious living area. The original bathroom doorway was repositioned off-center to create a greater sense of privacy, and the entire en-suite was refreshed with updated fixtures and cabinetry. The handmade tile used throughout the casita gives the entire space a rustic, Mexican-inspired aesthetic, while the wood choices tie in perfectly with the overall design language of the main house.
